I didn't need a reminder on how far behind I am with Laurable dot com, but The Lannan Foundation is a great one anyway. I just found their site with several audio and video recordings of poets, plus a few other literary types. The audio page includes: Wendell Berry, Mei-mei Berssenbrugge, Lucille Clifton, Jorie Graham, Robert Hass, Stanley Kunitz, Li-Young Lee, Thomas Lynch, W.S. Merwin, Czeslaw Milosz, Dennis ODriscoll, Mary Oliver, Robert Pinsky, Adrienne Rich and Gary Snyder. On the video page are audio/video with Lucille Clifton and Li-Young Lee.

We had a Robert Bly-esque time in the woods, beating on drums, trying to come up with a message of who we are ~a VeriSign spokesman, referring to the American poet who argued that modern men suffer from being disconnected to their mythic roots.

Minnesota Public Radio comes through again! No poetry, but instead its bedfellow comedy. ComedyCollege dot net features real audio recordings from Victor Borge, Bob Newhart, Tom Lehrer and Nichols and May. There is twenty nine minutes of Nichols and May (listen) available, which I am currently enjoying.

TinyWords dot com, a site for haiku on the Internet, is still plugging away. Haven't been back there for awhile and I was pleasantly surprised by their continued growth. Their news page is full of good press and they even have a business plan for world domination. I already knew TinyWords gave out subscriptions for handhelds, but now you can receive daily haikus on your mobile as well. Almost makes me want to get a cell phone. Almost. Sorry guys.

Sound's like Talk of the Nation is adding a regular poetry feature with a poet reading a recently written poem and then discussing it. No details on if this is a weekly feature or not, but I hope so.

I just received an e-mail reminder from NPR on the New York poet Agha Shahid Ali. He died of brain cancer on Saturday at the age of 52. The World had a story on this, but I couldn't find the audio link and they only have a 5 day archive anyway. I sure there will be audio links in the near future.
